I recently received a great bit of news. I've been accepted as a member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association! A number of the local and international wedding photographers that I've admired for so long are also members of this association, and for me to be a part of this crowd is a blessing and a significant milestone for my business. As a result, I've already received a call from a Florida bride about her wedding in Mexico and I can't wait to see what else might be coming my way! :)

A sickening revelation.

Today I checked in on the blog of a friend of mine, David Jay. He posted about the need to focus in order to be successful. Part of the equation is that we find something to give up to make that happen, so I chose TV. Funny that I call it a revelation in the title of this post, yet some have known for years that it's a waste of time. Go ahead...say it..."duh!" Okay, are you done teasing? Good then, let's move on. :)

I called my parents to let them know of the new-found Kevin, the one that no longer watches TV, and they confirmed with a little math that this would have significant results for me. I've heard the average American watches an average of four hours a day. Four out of twenty-four hours. That's 1/6 of your time that day. What's 1/6 of 6 years? One entire year! After sixty years? TEN YEARS OF YOUR LIFE....GONE! Yes, I may experience withdrawals. Afterall, how does one bid farewell to Jack Bauer?! God only knows. But alas, it must be done.

In case you're wondering, the photo really is my TV which was made in 1978. It's had the honor of broadcasting so much...the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan, the fall of the Berlin Wall, MTV's groundbreaking Real World in which America fell in love with reality TV (don't worry...I mean that last one satirically). It's been a good TV. It's been with me through the good times and never left me through the bad, but it's time to let it go.

Forward in time
