Next Level Workshop - Ray Santana et. al.

Ray Santana has become a good friend of mine since we first met at WPPI in Las Vegas a couple months back. He's got more energy than a nuclear power plant and won't be melting down anytime soon!

Two of his latest pursuits that we've talked at length about are complete album designs and a workshop. He's collaborating on this workshop with a couple other great photographers and some great sponsors. I don't want to say too much about it now, because there's a lot of details left to work out, but it should turn out to be a great thing for those looking to learn.

Keep an eye on his blog for updates!

For Sale!

It's official, my house is on the market! This is the first step in a major reconstruction of my business. I've already got an apartment in the Pearl District, but...it's empty. Very empty. lol I do email from a stool near my kitchen counter.

Once the sale goes through, I'll be able to fill my studio with plush furniture, large wall prints, full product lines, new camera equipment, and an entire office arrangement. Ah...to do email from a desk again.

If you're moving to or within Portland, check this one out!

Here is a sample of the new slideshows I'm using. They're provided by BIG Folio which means that my website, blog and slideshows are finally all accomplished with the same company! :)

Ben & Adrianne

This last weekend I went wine tasting for the first time. It was awesome! And my company was great too. Ben and Adrianne were a lot of fun to hang out with. It was one of those things where you just kind of slip into a comfortable way of hanging out with each other. I like that!

They're getting married in Sunriver and I'll get to hang with them for a few days. Golf. Sun. Scenery. It's going to be a great time.

You guys are far better at this than you realized. I can't wait to shoot your wedding!

Bret & Bridget

This is a couple I met through one of my recent clients who is a cousin of Bret's. Funny thing is I met his cousin, Eric, through another recent client. Crazier still is that his dog has the same father as my sister's cousin's...okay nevermind. A bit of sarcasm creeping in again. :)

Bret, Bridget and I headed out not knowing specifically where we would shoot. I chose an area near the bottom of the Broadway Bridge, where we were able to find a ton of great spots all within a few hundred yards. The weather and lighting worked out perfectly!

Hope you guys had fun! You're looking great in these shots and I can't wait to see you at the wedding. :)

Dave & Meghan

About a week ago, the three of us went around Portland's waterfront to see what we could find. A lot of great opportunities presented themselves...especially when we went out later that night! Here are some pics of our "walkabout".

I'm also looking forward to their wedding at Timberline Lodge. Plans include a hutlike cabin higher up the mountain and snow cats! No, not animals...machines.

I'm excited to get some great shots up there for you two! See you soon!

New Music: Ivy

I LOVE music! It's been a big part of my life since I was i kid. In fact, somewhere in the family is a picture of me playing a sax when I was about 6...and I still play it (the neighbors dogs hate me for it). :)

Anyway, I'm always searching out new music and have decided that once a month, I'll update the music on my site with anything I come across that I really like. Many of you have mentioned liking what I put on there so I'm hoping this will be fun for you as well.

May's music is from the band "Ivy" which is totally new to me. I really like how they mix light flowing melodies with an underlying groove influenced by the perfect amount of funk. Check out their website...talk about branding...it fits them perfectly!
